On March 14, 2021, Vanity Fair reported that Yo-Yo Ma gave an impromptu concert to folks at a coronavirus vaccination clinic at the Berkshire Community College gymnasium in Pittsfield, Massachusetts. He was getting his second injection, and while dutifully waiting for the 15-minute post-injection time required (in case folks exhibit an adverse reaction), he played his cello! "Mensch” is a German/Yiddish word for a truly honorable human being, a wonderful human being … and Yo-Yo Ma certainly does capture the mensch essence again and again, such that Vanity Fair called their article Yo-Yo Mensch, in honor of all that he does. Doesn’t this just encapsulate the exact moment we are in?! The world is opening up bit by bit, folks are doing their due diligence and trying to keep each other safe, … and classical music, LIVE PERFORMANCES OF CLASSICAL MUSIC, are about to become possible again!! Woohoo!!!! I bet Schubert’s “Ave Maria” and Bach’s “Cello Suite No.1 in G Major” never sounded so good!

He turned 21 recently and asked for advice about getting into cricket betting. Here's what i said. Start so small that losing feels like nothing. Don't tell anyone how much you're betting because numbers create weird pressure. Watch full matches not just highlights. And never ever try to win back a loss immediately. That last one is the most important. I told him betting on IPL can be a fun hobby for decades if you respect those basic rules. The people who burn out fast are the ones who ignore all of this. Hope he listens better than i did at his age.
